A marker honoring gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender veterans was unveiled August 26, 2003 at the California Veterans Memorial in Capitol Park. Tom designed this marker, and led the effort to have it installed. He was Master of Ceremonies for the dedication which included members of the state legislature.

LOCAL ACTIVIST RETURNS HOME FOR BOOK SIGNING

Dorothy said, “There is no place like home.” Tom Swann lived in Ventura County for 18 years. The events in his book took place in Ventura. On Sunday December 7 the Ventura Gay and Lesbian Resource Center invites Tom to be a special guest at their Holiday Gala from 11 -2 on Sperry Drive. Tom’s book mentions almost fifty Ventura County residents by name. Be there to get an autographed copy and see what Tom wrote about YOU in his book.

Tom said, “The fact that local residents like Edie Brown and Dr. Spiegle changed Navy policy forever is a testimony to the greatness of the Ventura County family of LGBT. When I needed help I turned to the local gay resource center for assistance. Their assistance is now recorded in this book.
